Twitter whacked by long problems hours

Twitter warned its users an update Monday night has not left the site unusable for many.

The problem began since 8 pm PDT, the company said, and could take hours. “Our infrastructure and operations engineers are working to resolve this problem. The site could be down around 3 am PDT,” said company spokesperson Carolyn Penner.

The status page Twitter blamed the problem on “the failed enhancement of a new approach to timeline caching.”

Signs of problems including the famous “failwhale” image that indicates problems, like other means “something is technically wrong, missing or late tweets, duplicate tweets, and a Web site that does not work sometimes.

Twitter has generally performed better than their first days of popularity, when “failwhale” comments were commonplace. Although the availability of the site and service has improved, however, the implications for service interruptions are higher today: Twitter is used by more serious business communications with customers and marketing specialists use more energy in their own lives, and Google competitors such as Facebook and Buzz are more serious.

Google released My Tracks – GPS Android Application

Google released the source code of a program called Android phone GPS My Tracks, which allows people to register where they were, log into Google Docs trip and your online maps.
